Hi Student Organization Leaders,
As you promote your organization and events this semester, here is a quick overview of Illinois Tech’s social media guidelines and what is required to run a student organization account.
All Illinois Tech affiliated social media channels are managed through Marketing and Communications to ensure consistent branding, security, and best practices across the university.
Before creating a new account
Student organizations should confirm they have a clear purpose, defined audience, and a team that can post consistently. In some cases, partnering with an existing Illinois Tech account may be more effective than launching a new one.
Social Media Channel Registration is required
All student organizations must complete the Social Media Channel Registration Form before creating a new account. The form collects your admin contact, platforms, posting plan, and confirmation that your team will follow Illinois Tech brand guidelines.
Expectations for active accounts
Accounts should post regularly, align with Illinois Tech branding, and report any admin changes. Accounts are reviewed annually, and inactive or noncompliant accounts may be consolidated or deactivated.
Take a look at the full Social Media Channel Registration and Management Protocol for detailed guidance on naming, branding, and best practices.
Warm Regards,
