Website Mission Membership Benefits
Mission The mission of this organization is to provide a comprehensive education to architecture students on the themes of tall buildings, vertical urbanism, and urban habitat—areas with a strong legacy at IIT’s College of Architecture through its ongoing partnership with the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). The organization exists to connect students with the professional world through educational engagement and exposure to the evolving discourse of vertical architecture and urban design.
Membership BenefitsThe SAS will provide IIT students, and particularly the underserved Master’s community, with opportunities to engage with professionals in the tall buildings field in tandem with the CTBUH, fostering trade learning and facilitating mentorship bonds. Such opportunities will serve as growth and development for international citizenship for IIT students. We hope to work with other registered student organizations at the CoA to run wide-reaching events that educate the design community about educational initiatives and raise awareness about the potential career paths available for the growth of the tall buildings field. The connections students foster at such events will become invaluable to them as they build their networks and move into professional practice (especially for the underserved M.Arch and MTBVU communities. The events and initiatives will also implement the first steps in connecting architecture students at IIT to those across the city of Chicago, cultivating a community of united and well-educated designers ready to collaborate across the workforce.
